About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Part time On Call Class A CDL Truck Driver in Hazlewood, MO, offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career focused on safety. Drivers on this account are paid weekly, with hours varying based on coverage needed. Compensation includes $0.60 per mile for solo miles, $26.00 per stop for solo stops, and a $40.00 per night per diem. Paid training is provided. The schedule involves varying work days based on coverage, as an On Call Driver with a start time dispatch window of 4:00 AM - 6:00 AM, requiring flexibility. The role involves delivering SOLO to Southeastern MO and Southern IL on a regional route, utilizing Sleeper tractors and Dry Van trailers (31'-53'). Equipment includes a Manual Pallet Jack, and Ryder will provide training on all necessary equipment. The freight involves touch retail goods. A Hazmat endorsement is required within 90 days of hire, and Ryder reimburses the cost to obtain endorsements and provides training. Trucks are 36 months or newer, include 24/7 Roadside Maintenance, and company drivers can fuel up at over 800 Maintenance Facilities Nationwide. Ryder also offers a program for company drivers where they can purchase their truck and receive support. Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • Hazmat endorsement within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
