Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • Valid CDL-A
  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (i.e., PeopleNet)
  • Hand-held point of delivery scanning system experience (i.e., POD)
  • Customer service-related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes.
  • Perform required safety checks including inspections of the vehicle and trailer according to DOT regulations.
  • Report safety issues and repairs needed, following all DOT regulations and company driving guidelines.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight and perform count checks of items against customer invoices.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from the trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures, collecting payments where required.
  • Complete daily records of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with DOT and company requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor and loading dock area, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
