About The Position

The Trolley Driver position at Union College involves providing transportation for students, staff, and community members to and from college-approved locations while adhering to safety protocols. This is a temporary, part-time role that operates on an on-call basis, with varying workdays and hours throughout the year.

Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Commercial Driver's License, minimum class 'B' with 'P' endorsement.
• At least 2 years of transportation driving experience.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with a diverse group of college faculty, staff, and students.
• Subject to commercial driver's license (CDL) standards and random drug and alcohol testing as mandated by federal regulations.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle and to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a pre-trip inspection of the vehicle before each designated route.
• Provide trip information to the dispatcher prior to the start of each trip.
• Maintain scheduled times and locations for the Trolley Service.
• Report vehicle safety concerns and any issues affecting the community, such as road hazards or intoxicated students, to the immediate supervisor.
• Report any incidents, regardless of their perceived severity, to the driver.
