The TRIO Upward Bound program is a federally funded grant that operates within the Student Affairs Division of Anoka-Ramsey Community College. Upward Bound provides fundamental support to high school students in their preparation for college entrance. Upward Bound serves: high school students from low-income families; and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to develop the skills and motivation necessary to complete a program of secondary education and increase the rate at which traditionally underserved populations enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. To accomplish the goals and objectives of the program, the Upward Bound Advisor manages a caseload of students at two of our target schools and provides academic advising, college/career exploration opportunities and social/emotional support to participants in the program. The program structure includes daily tutoring on-site at the target high schools, occasional Saturday programming with all participants, and a six-week summer program. This position will serve students at Anoka and Champlin Park High Schools. The primary office location will be Anoka-Ramsey Community College, Rapids Campus and the Advisor will travel to the high schools Monday-Thursday in the afternoon to oversee tutoring during the academic year. A hybrid schedule for telework opportunities is possible based on department needs.
