AMTRACO is seeking a Trimmer to join our manufacturing team in Wayland, MI. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $18.25. The Trimmer will be responsible for operating various machines, including cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches. The primary function of this role is to cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures, as well as apply coatings to racks. The successful candidate will work in a fabrication shop and machine shop environment, ensuring that all operations are performed safely and efficiently. In this role, the Trimmer will read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. They will set stops or guides to specified lengths as indicated by scales, rules, or templates. The Trimmer will observe machine operations to detect part defects or malfunctions and measure part dimensions to ensure accuracy. Additionally, the Trimmer will be responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from parts, selecting and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. The position requires adherence to company safety procedures and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety within the machine shop. The work environment is dynamic, with noise levels fluctuating from moderate to high. Employees are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses and protective clothing, depending on the specific tasks being performed. The physical demands of the job include regular lifting of items weighing up to 75 pounds, standing, walking, and reaching for items above and below desk level. The Trimmer will also perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the manufacturing facility.
