As a Trimmer B, key responsibilities are as follows: Operate bucket and/or chip trucks; secure work area; set up traffic control and job site as needed. Work as a team with a 2 - 3 person crew, managing productivity and working safely. Supervision and direction of the crew as necessary; planning work and instructing crew members. Using an aerial bucket, climbing equipment, log loader, chain saw, and other equipment in trimming, pruning, and removing of tree limbs and dead or diseased trees encroaching on power lines. Pulling brush from trees as they are being trimmed; collect and drag brush to chipper; operate chipper to removal from site. Cleaning up site after tree removals or trimming. Carefully planning and executing trimming and removal to minimize the probability of damage to property. Exercise teamwork as a crew member, watch clearances, assist in securing and roping down branches, watches, and direct traffic as needed, maintain the safety of children and other observers. Spray trees with stump killer to prevent new growth; clean up site after finishingtrimming; haul away branches, logs, and brush. Respond to emergencies after strong storms or high winds to remove trees and branches from energized power lines. May contact property owners as needed to explain the trimming to be done,seek approval and resolve concerns and maintain safety of the property. Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment operated such asfueling/cleaning, checking oil/fluid levels, lubrications, inspecting tires, etc. Perform other work which is consistent with the essential functions of the job. Operate and maintain brush/tree grinder. Perform other duties as assigned.
