The Trim Sewer Technician Senior will operate industrial sewing machines to sew products in accordance with company performance and quality standards. This role will mentor and oversee team members' technical deliverables to ensure Roush and customer standards are met. This position is located in Livonia, MI.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of industrial sewing experience
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Experience working with Juki sewing machines

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Operating and maintaining sewing machines and related parts, including pattern plates, needles, presser feet, automatic cutting tools and blades
  • Training, coaching, and mentoring team members related to their job responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customers.
  • Reading and interpreting work orders and adjusting machines and materials to match, including selecting fabric, thread and needles, mounting necessary attachments and double-checking settings before beginning a large run.
  • Inspecting and repair finished products as needed and making machine adjustments to compensate for errors or quality issues.
  • Attaching elastic, cord, zippers, hooks, buttons, and other trimmings to sewn pieces according to work order instructions and diagrams.
  • Recording accurately the materials used, maintenance performed and a number of pieces completed during each shift, keeping each of these metrics within target ranges.
  • Troubleshooting basic machinery problems and request service or repairs
