About The Position

The Tribal Health Liaison serves as a dedicated bridge between Montana’s tribal nations, urban Indian health organizations and the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP). These positions ensure culturally appropriate engagement, support meaningful tribal participation in all RHTP initiatives, and embed trial priorities throughout program design, implementation, and evaluation. The Liaisons coordinate with tribal health systems to expand access to workforce development, technology modernization, and care delivery transformation resources while upholding tribal sovereignty and government-to-government relationships. Requirements

  • Knowledge of Montana tribal nations, cultures, and community health systems.
  • Strong understanding of tribal sovereignty, government relations, and tribal consultation.
  • Ability to build highly trusted relationships with tribal partners.
  • Knowledge of rural health systems, workforce challenges, and health technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public administration, Native American Studies, health care administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience working with tribal nations, tribal health systems, indigenous communities, or rural health programs.
  • Ability to travel statewide required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community engagement, program coordination, or health policy preferred.
