About The Position

The Tribal Government Liaison represents Humana to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Medicaid Enrollees, Indian Health Care Providers and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. The Tribal Government Liaison will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategy to AI/AN Enrollees, Indian Health Care Providers (IHCPs), Urban Indian Clinics (I/T/Us), and Indian Tribe representatives. The individual in this role serves as a resource to and advocate for AI/AN Enrollees, and IHCPs during their interactions with the Humana Healthy Horizons in Oklahoma Medicaid plan. The Tribal Government Liaison helps identify health needs requiring specialized intervention, such as chronic diseases or access to care shortages. The individual in this role advises health plan to help develop functional strategies for improving health outcomes of Native Enrollees. Gathers qualitative and quantitative data related to AI/AN Medicaid Enrollees to identify opportunities to improve their experience. Leads the quarterly Tribal Advisory Committee to help gain community insights that guide market strategy related to AI/AN enrollee experience and improving outcomes of the population. Leads the Tribal Concierge Unit to support operational procedures and best practices related to health plan operations and services for network practices affecting AI/AN Medicaid Enrollees. Drive the implementation of population health and health equity initiatives and optimize capabilities to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborate with health plan leaders to develop strategic, process-driven, and technical solutions for improving quality of services delivered to AI/AN Medicaid Enrollees. Submits reports on plan activities related to AI/AN strategy and outreach to OHCA as required. Ensure market policies related to AI/AN and tribal health providers are aligned with state and federal guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must reside in the state of Oklahoma.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years' managing projects.
  • Strong cultural awareness and understanding of Native American health issues.
  • 2+ years' experience working with tribes in Oklahoma.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations.
  • Experience developing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 30% travel within the state of Oklahoma.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Programs, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree: preferably in public health, social services, or healthcare administration.
  • Member of an Oklahoma tribe.
