About The Position

The Oncology Triage RN position is located in Lisle, IL, and is a full-time role with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. This position does not require evening, weekend, or holiday shifts. The role involves managing patient health concerns and symptoms through telephone interactions, utilizing physician-approved protocols for assessment and management. The RN will be responsible for patient education, documentation, and serving as a clinical resource for staff, while also performing various other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in nursing.
  • Knowledge of nursing skills in accordance with nursing standards in the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Minimum of two years of professional nursing experience (Oncology preferred) in a clinical or hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

  • OCN Certification.
  • Experience with Five9 or similar call management software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient health concerns and symptoms via telephone interactions using physician-approved protocols.
  • Respond to and prioritize incoming patient messages and test results.
  • Schedule appointments, tests, and procedures, and obtain insurance prior-authorization.
  • Review and authorize/deny provider ordered prescriptions according to established guidelines.
  • Deliver patient education based on individual needs and provider/group policy.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and document patient education provided.
  • Perform and delegate tasks to facilitate patient care and assist other staff.
  • Orient and train new staff members.
  • Function as a patient advocate and initial contact for patient-related issues.
