Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Medical Assistant experience is required. (Certifications are preferred.)
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medical office as a medical assistant.
  • Prior dermatology office experience is strongly required.
  • Experience with biologics is required.
  • Knowledgeable of medical dermatology terms/CPT, ICD-10.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Quality computer skills.
  • Professional in phone skills and mannerisms.
  • Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and co-workers alike.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, understand the provider's instructions, patients' needs, and know when to seek information or advice.
  • Must possess manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping and bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Includes handling of sharps and chemicals.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Speak on the phone with patients to assist them in determining care needed.
  • Enter Pathology results into the automated Lab Calls system.
  • Confidentially and professionally discuss patient pathology and test results with patients in a compassionate manner.
  • Carefully explain patients conditions to them and what further treatment is required.
  • Schedule patients for follow-up visits.
  • Complete internal referrals to the General Surgeon and the Mohs Surgeon
  • Enter medical information into EHR.
  • eScribe refills according to the physician's protocol
  • Completing prior authorizations as needed
  • Other duties as directed.
