The Referral Triage Coordinator at LifeNet Health plays a crucial role in the organ donation process by evaluating and facilitating organ donor referrals. This position involves responding to calls, conducting preliminary screenings, and collaborating with various teams to ensure timely and effective organ donation operations. The coordinator will work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, to support the mission of saving lives and restoring health.

  • Responds to referral calls from the Donor Center in a timely manner.
  • Engages with hospital staff and Donor Center to obtain medical information for triage.
  • Accurately documents donor information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Evaluates referrals by phone and determines urgency of onsite evaluation.
  • Dispatches staff to assess potential organ donor referrals and engages management as needed.
  • Provides updates on potentially urgent referrals to management and addresses clinical questions.
  • Coordinates with Transplant Coordinators and Organ Recovery Coordinators for logistical arrangements for organ donor cases.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in compliance with hospital MOA and LNH policy.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years' experience involving clinical aspects of donation or clinical/medical experience in a facility, hospital, or organization involving Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or related Allied Health work
  • Associate degree in Health related field
  • Medical Professional Certification - Certified Nursing Assistant, Respiratory Therapist, EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or related Allied Health Aid
  • 5 years experience involving clinical aspects of donation or clinical/medical experience in a facility, hospital, or organization involving Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, EMT, Paramedic, LPN, or related Allied Health work
  • 1 year OPO experience handling clinical aspects of donation
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure and high emotional situations
  • Knowledge of working with electronic medical records and medical terminology
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Presentation experience speaking with various types of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple time sensitive projects
