The Trend Research Assistant at Macy's, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting macro and micro trend research, as well as the annual, seasonal, and quarterly trend vision for Macy's private and market brands. This position is centered around identifying and analyzing macro trends, shifts in consumer behavior, cultural influences, and emerging style trends, particularly in the realms of apparel, accessories, and home. The assistant will demonstrate a natural curiosity and skill in gathering and synthesizing information from various sources into actionable insights that align with Macy's overall direction and customer base. In this role, the Trend Research Assistant will collaborate closely with the Director of Trend on specific focus areas, contributing to the development of annual, seasonal, and quarterly trend forecast presentations. These presentations will cover macro influences, color, fabric, artwork, silhouette, and styling cues across various categories. The assistant will also be responsible for creating enterprise-wide storytelling and impactful creative collateral that enhances Macy's presence as a modern department store. Active engagement with the fashion and design community, both internally and externally, is essential, as is the ability to manage time effectively and prepare materials that support the trend strategy and targeted business categories. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and the capability to tell compelling stories that push new ideas into implementation. The assistant will also support the trend team in influencing design, merchant, and vendor partners through clear communication and presentation materials, ensuring that the trend strategy is effectively communicated and implemented across the organization.
