About The Position

You will support the revival of Transylvania County, NC forestry and other state and private land/property following the aftermath of natural disasters. You will have the opportunity to help communities rebuild and return it to its natural beauty. What you will do: You will climb trees and perform various tasks, including cutting, trimming, and pruning, as well as piling debris for removal. The position requires performing physically demanding work with a high level of care and attention to safety. Candidates must be able to recognize and adhere to all safety considerations involving energized utility lines and critical infrastructure. You will work up to 10 hours per day, 6- 7 days a week, and may include extended hours, weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing tree climbing, trimming, as outline above.
  • Meet productivity standards, complete work in timely manner.
  • Follow instructions and exhibit sound and accurate judgment.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; use equipment and materials properly.
  • Demonstrated track record of arriving to work on time.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Class A CDL license, and in good standing.
  • 5+ years of bucket truck operating experience within 10 feet of energized electrical power lines with boom length of 75 ft up to 100 feet.
  • Electrical Hazard Awareness Program (EHAP) Training.
  • ISA Certified Arborist.
  • ISA Certified Utility Arborist.
  • Certified Tree Safety Professional (CTSP).
  • Qualified Applicator License (QAL).
  • Qualified Applicator License (QAC).
  • Prioritize and plan work activities.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

Responsibilities

  • Work in adherence to safe practices, procedures, work site or traffic laws.
  • Identify hazards, disease, risks, or concerns impacting safe climbing operations
  • Operate chainsaws, lifts, chippers, power saws, power winches, sprayers and other related equipment
  • Identify electrical equipment and associated hazards or risks
  • Must be able to work in, around and amongst poisonous plants and noxious vegetation
  • Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs. Fuel and service equipment as required.
  • Inform and advise management or repair technician for major repairs or maintenance.
  • Perform daily inspections and maintenance evaluations/checks on all equipment before and after use.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Adhere to all company safety standards/policies and applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge and required inspection of climb gear, equipment, and proper utilization
