About The Position

Are you a proven business leader who refuses to sit behind a desk and wait for the phone to ring? Do you have the "hunter" DNA to build a market, drive top-line revenue from the front lines, and build a high-performing operations team? Joshua Tree Experts, the premier outdoor home service company, is seeking an aggressively proactive General Manager to lead our tree care, plant health care, and lawn care operations in the Bethesda, MD area market. This is a pivotal, full-time leadership role. You are the "CEO" of your territory. We aren't just looking for an operational administrator; we are looking for a rainmaker . You will have ultimate responsibility for the location's profitability, meaning if the sales pipeline slows down, you are the first one hitting the pavement to generate leads, close deals, and keep the trucks moving.

Requirements

  • The "Hunter" Mindset: You are naturally proactive, driven, and self-sufficient. You know how to prospect, network, and close deals. You never rely solely on marketing or inbound leads to hit your numbers.
  • Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated track record of managing a P&L, achieving aggressive business growth, and leading a blue-collar or service-based workforce.
  • Industry Knowledge: Hands-on experience in the green industry (tree care, lawn care, home services) is highly desired. A proven track record of sales leadership and operations management is paramount.
  • Business Acumen: Strong financial, operational, and sales knowledge. The ability to analyze data, identify market trends, and pivot strategies on the fly.
  • Communication: Elite verbal and written communication skills. You must be as comfortable presenting to affluent homeowners as you are running a morning safety tailgate meeting with your crews.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required (Bachelor's preferred).
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • An ISA Certified Arborist designation is a strong plus, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Generation & Sales Leadership: The Ultimate Rainmaker: Take ultimate ownership of top-line revenue. You don't just manage the budget; you actively grow it.
  • Lead from the Front: If inbound leads slow down or your Arborist Account Managers need a push, you don't wait-you hit the field, prospect high-end neighborhoods, build commercial relationships, and hunt for new accounts.
  • Sales Coaching: Develop and execute an aggressive local sales strategy. Ride along with your sales team, coach them on consultative closing techniques, and step in to help close high-ticket contracts.
  • Financial & P&L Management: Full accountability for the location's P&L, including developing, managing, and executing an annual budget. Monitor key financial metrics and implement daily/weekly strategies to increase revenue and control operational costs.
  • Operations & Logistics: Oversee all day-to-day operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and quality control for the "Joshua Tree 3" service lines (Tree Care, Plant Health Care, and Lawn Care). Ensure all crews deliver the elite "Joshua Tree Experience" safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Business Development & Market Expansion As the General Manager of this territory, you are the Chief Growth Officer. We do not just manage the books; we aggressively build the market. You are expected to dedicate a significant portion of your week to proactive business development to ensure the pipeline never runs dry.
  • Proactive Prospecting: You don't wait for inbound leads. You actively target high-net-worth neighborhoods, cloverleafing around existing job sites, and knocking on doors to introduce the "Joshua Tree Experience."
  • Strategic Networking: Build lucrative B2B referral networks. You will identify and cultivate relationships with HOA presidents, country club facility managers, high-end landscape architects (who don't offer arborcare), and property management firms.
  • Pipeline Ownership: If the schedule looks light or an Arborist Account Manager is struggling, you are the first one in the truck hitting the pavement. You own the top-line revenue, and you fill the gaps through relentless, self-directed hunting.
  • Talent Management & Culture Guarding: Act as the gatekeeper for our company culture. Lead the local hiring process to build a high-performing team of professionals-we don't just hire "bodies," we hire future leaders. Provide continuous coaching, mentorship, and professional development to all employees to promote engagement and high retention.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary & Bonus Structure: A strong base salary with heavy, performance-based upside tied directly to the revenue growth and profitability of your location.
  • Career Growth: A well-defined career path with opportunities for advancement within a rapidly expanding, national brand.
  • Work-Life Balance: A culture that values your time and provides the support needed to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid Training & Certifications: We invest heavily in your professional growth, including paid training at our corporate headquarters and support for industry certifications.
