Moon Valley Nurseries is seeking a driven and experienced District Manager of Tree Care to oversee day-to-day tree maintenance operations within a defined district. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and profitable operations while delivering best-in-class customer service. The District Manager will directly manage the performance, development, and operations of Groundsmen, Climbers, Tree Care Specialists, and support staff across multiple nursery or service locations. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong knowledge of tree care services, operational management, and team development, capable of building high-performing crews and driving customer satisfaction.

  • Oversee all daily Tree Care operations within the assigned district, ensuring service quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Regularly visit job sites to monitor compliance with company standards and OSHA/ANSI safety practices.
  • Support scheduling, logistics, and resource planning for field crews.
  • Partner with General Managers and Sales teams to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
  • Assist with new business opportunities, customer proposals, and account retention strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services within the district and support execution of growth plans.
  • Hire, train, and coach district team members, including Groundsmen, Climbers, and Tree Care Specialists.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans to support career growth.
  • Foster a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a key contact for district-level clients, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Conduct customer visits and service reviews to confirm satisfaction and quality.
  • Use customer interactions as training opportunities to demonstrate Moon Valley Nurseries’ service standards.
  • Monitor and report on district performance metrics, including safety, productivity, and revenue.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Operations teams on staffing, budgeting, and operational planning.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in tree care, landscaping, or related field operations.
  • Proven ability to manage field crews and deliver high-quality, safe service.
  • Strong knowledge of tree biology, pruning, removals, and general arboriculture practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with scheduling, forecasting, and performance management.
  • Responsible for recruiting, building, training, and supervising a team of 2–3 Sales Professionals.
  • All Tree Care team members are required to obtain the appropriate local Qualified Applicator certification within six (6) months of their hire date. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon successfully meeting this requirement.
  • Candidates holding an ISA Certified Arborist credential must present a valid, current certification during onboarding. Ongoing employment requires that this certification remain active and in good standing. Employees are responsible for maintaining and renewing their ISA certification as required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 15 pounds.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
  • Subject to MVR and criminal background check (In accordance with applicable fair chance laws, rules, and regulations)
  • Sales or account management experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Horticulture, Arboriculture, or related field preferred.
