About The Position

The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more. This classification level is responsible for the supervision of the highest risk to re-offend clients under the authority of the Chief Probation Officer and licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner, Clinical Social Worker, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Responsibilities may include evaluating probationer needs and matching to the appropriate treatment modality or service, i.e., substance abuse, mental health, medical, housing, employment and educational services, etc.; developing and providing case management and supervision of probationers activities in the community; collaborates with providers and stakeholders important to the success of probationers and the vision and mission of the State Probation System. This position has the same statutory authority and responsibilities as a probation officer in addition to the treatment responsibilities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social services, criminal justice or directly related field, AND 6 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Responsibilities

Supervises adult and/or juvenile probationers with the highest risk to re-offend by facilitating case staffing with probation staff to confirm proper classification, assessing special needs, and developing ongoing case plans to ensure all criminogenic factors are being addressed throughout the probationary period.
Performs counseling, case management, case reporting, and related functions of managing a caseload under general supervision.
Supervises probationers/defendants through office visits to verify compliance with court-ordered conditions; schedules office meetings; creates collateral contacts with treatment providers to monitor compliance.
Conduct various trainings for probation staff within the district e.g. motivational interviewing, youth level of service, suicide prevention, and crisis management.
Performs risk assessments to determine proper supervision level of client; recommends incentives and/or sanctions based on assessment; monitors drug screens.
Monitors treatment process of clients and is engaged in the clients’ treatment through regular and on-going communication with treatment providers and through attendance at treatment groups and facilities. Develops relapse prevention plans.
Acts as a subject matter expert within district; provides guidance to lower level staff regarding challenging or unique cases.
