About The Position

The primary function of the Treatment Nurse is to ensure that effective and efficient care is provided as prescribed by physicians and according to facility policies and procedures. The Treatment Nurse will report directly to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for adhering to current federal, state, local, and corporate standards, regulations, and guidelines to ensure that the highest level of quality care is maintained for our residents at all times. Responsibilities

  • Maintain open communication with residents and their families regarding Plans of Care, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), and other treatment protocols.
  • Document nursing notes in a clear and descriptive manner that accurately reflects the care provided and the resident’s response.
  • Execute physician’s orders for care, including administering medications and treatments.
  • Conduct treatments with respect for the dignity and self-esteem of the resident.
  • Accurately assess wounds and pressure sores, promptly notifying physicians of any lack of healing progress, deterioration, or signs of infection.
  • Ensure appropriate wound care management services are included in the care plan to promote healing, including special mattresses and nutritional supplements.
  • Assist in preparing and updating care plans related to treatment issues.
  • Support physicians and healthcare providers during visits and examinations.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding resident care, treatment, and conditions.
  • Notify families and attending physicians of significant treatment-related issues, including: Sudden or marked adverse changes in skin conditions or wounds; Untoward responses to medications or treatments, including refusals; Significant treatment errors that present risks; Inabilities to obtain or administer medications, equipment, or supplies as prescribed, posing risks.
  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of nursing staff.
  • Report significant findings or changes in resident conditions and any potential concerns to the RN Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing (DON).
  • Provide compassion and reassurance to residents who may be upset or in need of support.
  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections conducted by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Assistant Director of Nursing.
