About The Position

Illinois CancerCare is seeking a part-time Treatment Nurse (RN) to join their supportive, team-oriented practice serving patients throughout Central Illinois, including Peoria, Bloomington, Galesburg, Ottawa/Peru, and Macomb. As a Treatment Nurse, the role involves delivering compassionate, patient-centered cancer care while working alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and fellow nurses. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling, typically 2-3 days per week, and may involve supporting nearby Illinois CancerCare locations as needed, with travel based on home location and clinic needs.

Requirements

  • Current Illinois RN license (required)
  • 1+ year of clinical nursing experience
  • Passion for oncology nursing and patient-centered care
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally rewarding environment
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Responsibilities

  • Administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other treatments with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Performing clinical procedures such as port flushes, dressing changes, injections, and catheterizations.
  • Assessing patients in person and by phone for side effects, toxicities, emergencies, and overall well-being.
  • Supporting physicians with diagnostic procedures and reporting thorough nursing assessments.
  • Preparing daily treatment schedules and ensuring readiness of teaching materials and clinic resources.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized treatment environment and delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Responding calmly to emergencies and operating necessary equipment.
  • Triaging patient calls and collaborating with team nurses to provide timely support.
  • Traveling to satellite clinics 1–2 days per week to extend care across our network.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with hospitals, pharmacies, and community partners.
  • Staying current with education and obtaining OCN certification within 3 years.
  • Upholding HIPAA and safety standards in all aspects of care.
