The Foster Care Parent Coordinator plays a vital role in our mission to deliver coordinated, individualized care to our communities. Under the general direction of the Program Director, the Foster Parent Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of Foster Parents for the Treatment Foster Care program. The Foster Parent Coordinator must demonstrate attention to detail, strong organization and customer service skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • A doctorate or master's degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling; or
  • A baccalaureate degree in social work or a field related to social work including, but not limited to, sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling; or
  • A baccalaureate degree in any field.
  • A doctorate or master's degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling, with a student placement in casework services to children and families or one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families
  • A baccalaureate degree in social work or a field related to social work including, but not limited to, sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling and one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families; or
  • A baccalaureate degree in any field plus two years experience in providing casework services to children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Meets agency established resource parent certification and attrition thresholds
  • Field resource parent inquires and conduct initial screenings and orientation sessions
  • Completes home studies for prospective service families
  • Facilitate pre-service training sessions for foster parents using the PRIDE curriculum
  • Obtains training in Parenting with Love and Logic
  • Facilitates Love and Logic certification training for all resource parents
  • Obtains CPI training certification, if applicable
  • Provides PRIDE, Parenting with Love and Logic and CPI training for treatment foster care staff, resource parents and referral sources as requested
  • Coordinates, prepares and maintains required charting and documentation in a timely and thorough manner for all resource parents as required by Embrace TFC , DMAS and Virginia Department of Social Services Standards for Licensed Child Placing Agencies
  • Conducts interim client specific training for certified resource parents
  • Provides quarterly resource parent training classes toward meeting ongoing training hour requirements established by state standards
  • Ensures all required documentation is completed correctly and timely for all resource parents as required by Embrace TFC, DMAS and the Virginia Department of Social Service Standards for Licensed Child Placing Agencies
  • Conducts comprehensive audits of resource parent files as assigned by Program Director or designee
  • Maintains resource parent tracking information to include re-evaluation deadlines and all related paperwork
  • Responsible for completing background checks for all resource parents, household members and alternate childcare providers in a timely manner as outlined by agency policies and procedures
  • Assists with annual events to include but not limited to Foster Parent Appreciation Month, Luggage Drive, Angel Tree, Annual Holiday Celebration
  • May manage a small caseload of clients per established agency staffing pattern thresholds
  • Communicates directly to Program Director: service family case activity, service barriers, and procedural issues
  • Participates in on-call rotation.
  • Attends community events and performs presentations
  • Other duties as assigned to include Foster Parent Recruiting, case work, and other operational needs
