At CoreCivic, we do more than manage inmates; we care for people. We are currently seeking Treatment Counselors in Community Corrections (Substance Abuse) who are passionate about making lasting changes in the lives of offenders. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of functions that are essential to the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals in our care. This role requires a commitment to setting the standards of care in the industry and ensuring that all interactions with participants are conducted with respect and professionalism. The Treatment Counselor will interview and assess prospective program participants, gathering data using appropriate screening and assessment instruments. Establishing rapport with participants is crucial, as it allows the counselor to determine individual and group needs based on the results of these assessments and other collateral sources. The counselor will facilitate both individual and group treatment interventions in accordance with CoreCivic partner agencies and prevailing state regulations, statutes, policies, and procedures. In this role, the counselor will utilize standardized offender assessment information to develop treatment plans or specific programs tailored to the needs of the participants. Facilitating participant engagement in the treatment process is key, as the counselor will promote positive attitudes, skills, and coping mechanisms to encourage ongoing recovery. The counselor will also plan participant incentives and employ appropriate therapeutic tools to manage behavioral issues or concerns effectively. Maintaining the confidentiality of clinical files for each participant is a critical responsibility. This includes managing intake documents, assessments, interviews, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, progress notes, discharge summaries, and referrals, all in compliance with written protocols and prevailing laws and regulations. The counselor will document and track treatment plans, monitor inmate progress, and review the status of inmates/residents to verify that treatment and therapeutic programs are completed successfully.
