Our Summer Internship Program, beginning in June 2026, provides immersive training and introduction to Santander. You will be combining this training with practical experience on both technical and interpersonal skills, helping your development during the internship. The 2026 Santander Summer Internship Program is for graduate level students who have an expected graduation date between December 2026 and May/June 2027. Santander US is a nationwide business with locations across the country. This position is located in New York, NY. You will be given exposure to the innerworkings of one largest financial institutions in the world. Working with best-in-class teams and contributing to projects that drive innovation across the organization. As part of the internship program, you will participate in structured professional development opportunities, create connections with peers and meet leaders across Santander. As a Treasury Risk intern, you will come out of this experience with an understanding of liquidity risk oversight and interest rate risk at a large financial institution.

Requirements

  • A graduate student with an expected graduation date between either December 2026 or May/June 2027.
  • Area of Study: Economics, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics or related field.
  • Cumulative GPA is 3.0 or above.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and courage.
  • Strong English communication skills both written and spoken required.
  • Analytical thinkers with a strong attention to detail.
  • Organized and able to manage time and multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently on special projects.
  • Ability to effectively contribute to a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel for data analysis and PowerPoint for presentations. (Preferred)
  • Experience in PowerBI and Bloomberg. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Support market benchmark analysis and comparative assessments.
  • Review and analyze external data sources to collect public peer data for model calibration and validation.
  • Participate in the oversight of liquidity metrics calibration that form part of the contingent liquidity management framework.
  • Have key role in supporting treasury risk team reach milestones for specific liquidity risk management projects and initiatives.
  • Execute ad hoc reporting to facilitate miscellaneous senior and executive management reporting and status updates as needed.
  • Support and develop short-term projects for liquidity risk processes.
  • Assist in the production and review of liquidity risk and interest rate risk related materials for various risk forums/committees.
