The Travelling Supervisor position at thyssenkrupp Supply Chain Services NA, Inc. involves coaching and guiding a team of employees to achieve optimum levels of productivity, quality, and safety while meeting operational deadlines and budgets. The role includes recruiting and hiring qualified employees, ensuring they receive necessary training, and maintaining a high-performance work environment through effective communication and fair treatment. The supervisor is also responsible for addressing poor performance and behavior that may impact team objectives. This position requires up to 90% travel within the East Coast and Midwest, and it involves working directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

  • Meet all production and distribution objectives and deadlines within the established budget.
  • Teach, coach and demonstrate work activities for team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary functions.
  • Coordinate, assign, and review work.
  • Direct staff on priority of work to be accomplished.
  • Ensure all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, proper use of equipment, performance standards, and workplace policies.
  • Maintain timely, effective, and professional communications with all internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Perform effective record keeping, filing, and other administrative duties as required.
  • Report any accidents or incidents that occur within the designated facility.
  • Monitor working conditions regularly to ensure the safety of all team members.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques to resolve personnel and quality issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Basic math and reading skills obtained by a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with plant manager, sales staff, and warehouse personnel.
  • Ability to understand equipment and tolerances from past experience.
  • Warehouse experience with forklift, packing, and measuring.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and team building skills.
  • Safety mindset.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years previous supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of metals handled in regard to proper staging, processing, packaging, and shipping.
  • First aid and CPR training.
  • Exposure to labor relations, safety programs, ISO standards, lean practices, and sales functions.
