About The Position

The Private Clinic Traveling Technician plays a vital role in supporting high-quality patient care across our Southern Region , including clinics in Yuba City and Marysville . As a Traveling Technician, you’ll assist optometrists and ophthalmologists by performing essential pre-exam testing, maintaining and troubleshooting diagnostic equipment, and helping ensure every clinic operates smoothly and efficiently. You will be a key member of our patient care team—welcoming patients, guiding them through testing procedures, and helping create a positive, professional experience. This role offers the unique opportunity to support multiple clinics within the Southern District (and, as needed, the Northern or Central Districts). Requirements

Strong knowledge of clinical testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and proper testing procedures.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Willing and able to travel 1–3 times per week to various clinic locations.
Reliable transportation is required.
Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and active auto insurance .
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and strong teamwork.
Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting required.

Responsibilities

Travel to assigned private vision clinics within the Southern Region of Yuba City and Marysville, ensuring timely arrival and readiness to support patient care.
Adapt quickly to different clinic environments and workflow needs to maintain smooth daily operations.
Anticipate and communicate with the other technicians to ensure proper patient flow
Greet patients in a friendly, professional manner and help create a welcoming clinic experience.
Obtain and accurately document patient medical histories in the EHR system.
Perform comprehensive pre-exam testing, including: Autorefractions (A/R) Confrontational fields Stereo and color vision testing Lensometer readings Visual acuity Pupil evaluations Motility testing Intraocular pressures (IOP) Dilation procedures
Set up, operate, and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors, visual field analyzers, OCT, fundus cameras, and slit-lamp imaging devices.
Ensure accurate test results and communicate any equipment concerns promptly.
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, calibration, and minor repairs of diagnostic and clinic equipment.
Identify and resolve basic technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain clinic efficiency.
Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists during minor in-office procedures.
Clean, sterilize, and autoclave instruments according to safety standards.
Communicate effectively with fellow technicians to support patient flow and reduce wait times.
Maintain accurate records of patient testing, equipment maintenance, and services provided.
Follow all clinic protocols, safety procedures, and HIPAA guidelines to protect patient safety and confidentiality.
Monitor inventory levels for medical and back-office supplies and report low stock or equipment needs to Lead Technician.
Complete opening and closing procedures in each clinic as assigned.
Submit prescription refill requests and pre-authorization documentation when needed.
Assist in training new staff on diagnostic equipment, testing procedures, and clinic workflows.
Support clinic teams across multiple locations, promoting a positive, collaborative, and professional environment.
Refer clinical questions from patients to the doctor.
Assist at satellite or partner clinics as required.
Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations and patient care.
