The Medical Assistant will elevate their clinical experience, working closely with providers and our participants. The Traveling Medical Assistant is responsible for covering any MA roles as needed. They are responsible for assisting the medical staff (providers, nurses, and on-site Specialty Care Providers) in providing safe and efficient delivery of medical services at the WelbeHealth clinic, as directed. Under the general supervision of medical staff, the Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical duties (e.g., scheduling medical appointments, greeting participants, and filing medical records, taking and recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and maintaining equipment and supplies). The Medical Assistant works collaboratively with all members of the WelbeHealth team and participants to promote the WelbeHealth mission. The Medical Assistant collaborates effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to promote the WelbeHealth values, team culture and mission. Essential Job Duties: Travel 100% of the time to various WelbeHealth clinic locations across Central California, supporting multiple sites based on business needs. Prepare participants for appointments, including setting up exam rooms, checking participants in and out, and gathering accurate medical histories. Perform pre-exam tests, such as measuring and documenting vital signs, and assist physicians during examinations. Conduct routine medical procedures (e.g., dressing changes, suture removal) under the supervision of a physician and in accordance with training and state laws. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and sterilize medical/dental equipment following guidelines. Triage unscheduled requests for physician visits and respond as directed. Maintain clinic logs, ensure exam rooms are stocked and sanitized, and prepare rooms for participant encounters. Proactively manage on-site specialist calendars, ensuring all participant-related information is ready for specialist appointments. Assist with scheduling medical appointments inside and outside WelbeHealth clinics, documenting encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) system, monitoring attendance, and coordinating with participants and staff. Perform staff and non-staff COVID testing as needed. Conduct quality control checks on lab equipment and maintain logs. Answer clinic phone calls, addressing participant and provider concerns, and escalating urgent matters to the appropriate staff. Assist with ordering medical supplies, maintaining clinic equipment, and performing sterilization duties. Provide translation, interpreter services, and appointment reminders, as necessary. Participate in daily clinic meetings (Morning Briefing, Huddle, IDT) and complete assigned action items.
