WRS has an immediate opening for an experienced Traveling Heavy Equipment Operator to support civil construction projects throughout Eastern Washington. Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct civil construction experience, operating multiple pieces of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with multiple types of equipment, such as: dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, rollers and skid steers.
  • Strong understanding of cut/fill operations, trenching, sloping, backfilling and finish grading.
  • Skilled in working around utilities, tight spaces, and active job sites with consistent safety awareness.
  • Experience supporting pipe crews, earthwork crews, and general civil sitework.
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain/maintain): valid drivers license, First Aid/CPR, site specific training/badging as required.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment operators may perform any combination of duties on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require.
  • Perform set up work on the equipment and the job site prior to the operation of the machine. Greases, oils, and performs minor repairs on equipment.
  • Must be able to make sound judgments and decisions, change tasks often, responsible for various duties and completing precise work.
  • Must be able and willing to climb down from the machine and help on the ground doing prep work and site work including pipe laying and utility work.
  • Must have a basic understanding of reading blueprints.
  • Must have a basic understanding of lasers and elevations.
  • Must have the ability and knowledge to safely operate various kinds of heavy equipment.
  • Work with construction crews operating heavy machinery such as large and small dozers, large and small excavators, backhoes, graders, front-end loaders, and forklifts.
  • While utilizing the equipment, one would maneuver different hand levers, foot controls, and climb in and out of the cab to operate the equipment.
