About The Position

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Bridge Fabrication Structural Fitters/Welders for projects located in the Olean, NY area . This is a second shift opportunity, and the pay rate is $45/hour plus $125/day per diem for Travelers 60+ miles from the job site. Per diem is paid all 7 days of the week if you work the full schedule. Job Scope: Fit and assemble structural bridge components in a fabrication shop environment Read blueprints and WPS sheets to lay out and fit beams, plate girders, stiffeners, diaphragms, splice plates, and other structural members Measure, mark, and align heavy steel to required tolerances prior to welding Use fitting tools such as clamps, wedges, strongbacks, chain falls, and come-alongs to position components for weld-out Verify joint prep, alignment, and fit-up before welding operations begin

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years welding experience in a bridge fabrication shop
  • Extensive experience fitting heavy structural steel used in bridge construction
  • Ability to perform precise layout and fit-up directly from blueprints and WPS sheets
  • Execute welds in compliance with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code standards
  • Pass on-site 3G FCAW weld test subject to bend and X-ray inspection to meet NYS DOT requirements
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and WPS sheets with minimal supervision
  • Experience with multi-pass welding on heavy plate and structural members
  • Ability to consistently maintain weld quality that meets visual and NYS DOT requirements
