About The Position

The Traveling Field Technician 1 position at Davey Resource Group, Inc. involves extensive travel throughout Joblin, MO and multiple other states within the U.S. The role focuses on working with leading electrical and telecommunication companies to provide analysis of infrastructure, inspect and catalog utility assets, and deliver real-time, quality data to improve service and reliability. The technician will also perform light GIS editing, understand document management systems, and comply with safety regulations while executing daily goals within quality, time, and budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or hike for extended periods and long distances.
  • Bend, reach, and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Presentations, Forms).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours.
  • High school diploma and valid driver's license required.
  • Organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
  • Clean DMV driving record and ability to safely drive/operate a 4x4 vehicle and ATV.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a two-year college or technical school degree in geography, GIS, or a related discipline.
  • Electric utility and telecommunications experience.
  • Proficient use of ESRI, ArcGIS Desktop, or other GIS software.

Responsibilities

  • Travel throughout Joblin, MO and multiple other states within the U.S.
  • Work with electrical and telecommunication companies to analyze infrastructure.
  • Inspect and catalog utility assets to create accurate utility asset data sets.
  • Provide real-time, updated, and quality data to utility companies.
  • Perform light GIS editing and manipulate utility company data.
  • Understand and use document management systems, filing, and document scanning.
  • Execute and plan daily goals while meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
  • Identify electrical/communication utility equipment and potential hazards.
  • Review and correct data integrity errors within GIS databases.
  • Comply with all safety regulations to maintain a successful safety record.
