About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Traveling Environmental Technician for our Water Remediation Group . The Environmental Technician can be based anywhere in the USA as it is 100% travel required but prefer if the candidate resides around Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC, Charlotte, or Houston. This position is responsible for activities at customer sites and helping with onsite projects. Our group provides liquid and vapor filtration and other miscellaneous remediation site services. Current projects in HI, CA, WA, IL, LA, WI, NJ, MA, and MI, at times may work out of our Kalkaska or Mt Pleasant, MI locations on system and equipment builds. Per Diem available daily that you are overnight at a project, travel costs covered by the company. Typical work schedule is 6-7 days a week: 10-12-hour shifts. Fatigue day off every 14 days for continuous work. Typically, on duty for 5 weeks and then some days off followed for r&r time. Preferred location : Ithaca, MI; Houston, TX; Spokane, WA; or Fargo, ND- other locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis Pay: $20-24- Determined on Experience Why Work for Clean Harbors? Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • CDL B or A an asset but not required
  • Valid Driver's License and clean MVR
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer savvy
  • Able to perform multiple tasks
  • Available for 24 hour, on-call basis
  • Ability to work with little or no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work
  • Ability to pass background check will qualify individuals to work on government sites
  • Requires pulling/pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, crawling, stooping and crouching in confined spaces
  • Requires walking, climbing, speaking, listening, color determination and clarity of vision at 2 feet or more (with or without lenses)
  • Requires sitting for extended periods
  • Requires the ability to properly wear and use personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) including levels A,B,C,D & , including full encapsulation PPE suits which can elevate body temperature substantially during strenuous exertion
  • Available for 24/day on‐call basis
  • Requires speaking, writing, and listening in English
  • Position involves strenuous physical exertion
  • Requires standing, lifting up to 50lbs

  • Strong mechanical ability preferred
  • Understands the manpower and equipment required to complete assignments
  • Knowledge of chemicals helpful
  • Knowledge of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance helpful
  • Knowledge of RCRA requirements/regulations helpful, training provided
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation DOT regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) helpful, training provided
  • All other duties as required by Management

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with Health & Safety Compliance and regulations
  • Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of all jobs that they work on, ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Assists the on-scene foreman/supervisor in managing large projects
  • Performs emergency response activities including, but not limited to chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, equipment decontamination, etc.
  • Responsible for vehicle inspections, equipment inspections and Health & Safety inspections. Ensures proper use of equipment and immediately notifies supervisor of any mechanical failures or problems with equipment
  • Assists in the field sampling activities and calibration of meters
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of Clean Harbors business, including, but not limited to running supplies, emergency response clean ups, etc.
