About The Position

Provides one-on-one training and support to older adults and individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities on the safe and proper use of public transportation. Participates in group outreach, training sessions, and provides program support. This position reports to the Mobility Manager. The hours and schedule of this position vary based on the time of year, and range from 15-25 hours per/wk.

Requirements

  • Education and experience in one of the following areas: Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Physical Therapy, Education, Special Education; or at least one (1) year of experience working with seniors and/or people with disabilities.
  • Recent experience and understanding of MCTS routes, schedules, and fares.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of training strategies, techniques, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) rules and laws.
  • Knowledge of MCTS operations and policies, as well as Paratransit Program and other operations.
  • Skilled in computer operations and spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and related software.
  • Ability to develop and execute company strategies to attain outcomes for set goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak to groups.
  • Ability to work with people with disabilities and seniors.

Responsibilities

  • Provides one-on-one training and support to older adults and individuals with physical, developmental, or cognitive disabilities on the safe and proper use of public transportation.
  • Motivates clients/caregivers to achieve their independent travel goals.
  • Gathers demographic and general client information. Enters data into database and updates as needed.
  • Uses data for marketing strategy to reach more potential clients; establishes goals for future years.
  • Prepares and conducts group presentations, individualized travel planning, securement consultation and route planning.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and provides securement training for new and interested users of mobility devices.
  • Provides sensitivity training for operators, instructors, dispatch, etc.
  • Provides community outreach presentations and participates in resource fairs to provide information on new initiatives, changes, and current programs.
  • Promotes upcoming events.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as required.
