About The Position

ENSCO, Inc. is seeking a Travel Technician to join our team for railroad track inspection operations. This role involves the use of measurement tools, electronics troubleshooting, and computer operation. Key responsibilities include interpreting railroad documents to derive train speed information, reviewing and analyzing track measurement data for reporting, and operating hi-rail commercial motor vehicles. Additionally, the position involves some vehicle maintenance for rail survey cars and hi-rail vehicles, along with regular housekeeping duties for safety and sanitation aboard government-owned survey vehicles. This position is based at ENSCO’s customer sites and requires the incumbent to routinely travel to and work onboard railroad track inspection vehicles and maintain a professional demeanor as a representative of ENSCO. Position Highlights: Travel: If you enjoy traveling and know your way around complex electro-mechanical systems, this position may be for you. Work schedule – 3 weeks of continuous travel, followed by 1 week off – no work, it’s your time. Live anywhere in the U.S. We fly you to work sites. We pay for flights, hotels, plus per diem. Compensation: Earn more than a regular 40-hour work schedule due to extended hours and overtime. Includes a sign-on bonus. Physical Requirements: Lift and carry 50 lbs. a distance of at least 150 feet. Climb a ladder 15 feet high, in order to access roof spaces of survey vehicles. Work in close quarters, under and about survey vehicles. Work in inclement weather. Work 12 hours or longer. Perform as a safety watchman in a railroad environment. Passing a Federal pre-employment drug test is a requirement prior to performing duties in this position. Undergoing and passing a random drug and alcohol testing is a condition while performing duties in this position. Railroad regulations require that selected candidates must pass an e-RAILSAFE security background check, including financial status, and online safety exams in order to work on railroad properties (a requirement of this position). Wearing safety equipment (hard hat, steel-toe boots, high-visibility vest, and protective eyeglasses) when working on railroad properties is also a requirement. ENSCO will provide all necessary safety equipment.

Requirements

  • This position requires the successful completion of a Public Trust background investigation. Qualified applicants must have resided in the United States for at least three (3) of the past five (5) years for this requirement.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical field involving troubleshooting and problem resolution, or a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 1 year of experience.
  • Experience with workplace safety programs.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as MS Word; Excel; PowerPoint; and Outlook.
  • Experience reading electrical or electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience conducting equipment/machinery inspections (periodic maintenance inspections, preventive maintenance) and equipment upkeep.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Operating System; transferring files on a network, copying, and pasting.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with tape measure and similar measuring tools.
  • Functional knowledge of mathematics and fraction measurements.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to travel independently for business purposes, including but not limited to booking an independent vehicle rental and hotel accommodations.
