Responsibilities

  • Prepare and sterilize all surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining impeccable sterile technique throughout each case.
  • Arrange and pass instruments, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, and maintain the sterile field to support safe, efficient procedures.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after cases to prevent errors and safeguard patient safety.
  • Assist with positioning, draping, and handling specimens as directed, while safeguarding patient comfort and dignity.
  • Monitor equipment and troubleshoot in collaboration with the circulating nurse and biomedical support, ensuring uninterrupted case flow.
  • Document case specifics accurately and communicate any concerns to the team promptly.
