About The Position

A healthcare facility in Seneca, SC is seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This role supports a high-acuity step-down unit caring for adult and geriatric patients requiring close monitoring following ICU-level care.

Unit Details
Unit Type: Progressive ICU / PCU
Bed Count: 10 beds
Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3
Common Diagnoses: Respiratory failure, sepsis, heart failure, DKA/HHS, alcohol withdrawal, overdose, and post-ICU transfers

Requirements

• Active South Carolina RN license or multistate license (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of PCU or step-down experience
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC charting experience
• Strong critical thinking, time-management, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to PCU/step-down patients
• Monitor and manage patients requiring continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Care for ventilated patients and manage CPAP/BiPAP therapy
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage arterial and central lines
• Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias and medical emergencies
• Maintain isolation precautions and infection control standards
• Document all patient care accurately using the EPIC EMR system
• Float to other units or campuses as needed, within demonstrated competencies
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
