Travel Registered Nurse – PCU
About The Position
Position Overview: Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse for a PCU assignment at James Cancer Hospital and Research in Columbus, Ohio. This role supports an acute leukemia patient population in a high-acuity, oncology-focused stepdown environment. Schedule: • Night shift • 3x12-hour shifts • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM • Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs • Self-scheduling requests accepted • No set or blocked scheduling Compensation: • Gross: $2,359 per week • W2: $24.50 per hour • Tax-Free Stipend: $1,477 per week • Locals accepted at the same rate Contract Details: • Start Date: February 9, 2026 • Duration: 16 weeks • Number of Openings: 4 • Orientation: – Week 1: Monday–Friday, day shift – Week 2: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor Unit Overview: • PCU / Stepdown medical oncology unit • Adult and geriatric patient population • Primary diagnosis: newly diagnosed acute leukemia • Daily census: ~22 patients • 24-bed unit Staffing Ratios: • Goal ratio: 1:4 (may flex to 1:5) Special Focus Areas: • Infection prevention protocols • Patient falls prevention • High volume of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte replacement
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
- MS/Tele or PCU experience required
- Oncology experience preferred (not required – unit will train)
- First-time travelers must be screened to client for review
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Strong telemetry skills and dysrhythmia interpretation required
- Experience with blood product administration and central lines required
- Epic charting experience required
- Valid compact or Ohio RN license required at time of submission
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
Nice To Haves
