As a Med Surg RN, you’ll assess vitals, monitor devices, administer medications, manage IV therapies, perform wound care, and partner with the care team to coordinate transfers and discharges. You’ll contribute to pain management plans, participate in daily rounds, and educate patients and families about post-discharge care. The role offers pathways for professional growth: pursuing specialty certifications, cross-training with surgical units, or stepping into charge-nurse or preceptorship opportunities as you gain experience.
