About The Position

Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in an ER Holding / Emergency Department Observation Unit setting in Columbus, Ohio. This night-shift role supports the care of adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients requiring short-term observation, monitoring, and treatment following emergency department evaluation. Assignment Details: - Shift: Nights, 3x12s (19:00 – 07:30) - Start Date: 02/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - Staffing Ratios: 1:4 - Patient Population: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics - Weekend Coverage: Per unit needs - Orientation: 36 hours

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse experience is required.
  • Candidate must have ER experience clearly noted in work history.
  • Patient ratio experience of 1:4 is required.
  • Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS.
  • Valid Compact RN license or Ohio RN license must be in hand at time of submission.
  • Candidate must be able to work Night shift, 3x12s (19:00–07:30).
  • No requested time off is permitted between 02/15/2026 and 02/28/2026.
  • All requested time off must be included at the time of submission.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to complete Ohio fingerprinting immediately upon contract acceptance, including traveling to an Ohio fingerprinting site if within driving distance.
  • Candidate must not be a current Ohio State University employee and must have been separated from any Ohio State University role for at least 6 months.
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
  • Two professional references are required.
  • At least one reference must be from a manager or director.
  • Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference.
  • Coworker references are not accepted.

Nice To Haves

  • ER Observation/Holding experience is preferred.
  • Experience in MS/Tele, Telemetry, PCU, or Stepdown units is acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • ER Holding / Observation patient care
  • Telemetry and dysrhythmia monitoring
  • PCU/Stepdown-level care
  • IV therapy, central line care, and blood product administration
  • Cardiac, insulin, heparin, and vasoactive drip management (including titration where applicable)
  • Renal failure and dialysis-related care
  • Respiratory support including CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy care
  • Wound care and wound vac management
  • Participation in rapid response and code teams
  • Documentation using Epic
