About The Position

Magnet Medical is seeking a travel Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and managing medications for patients in various healthcare settings. The position is a travel job based in Renton, Washington, with a duration of 12 weeks, requiring 40 hours of work per week on night shifts.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in a hospital or retail environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications by measuring, mixing, counting, and labeling prescription medications.
  • Verify the accuracy of medication orders, including prescription information, dosage, and patient details.
  • Ensure proper handling of medications, including controlled substances, according to pharmacy policies and regulations.
  • Assist pharmacists with the preparation and compounding of specialized medications, such as sterile products or creams, when needed.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of pharmaceutical supplies and medications, ensuring sufficient stock levels.
  • Receive and check shipments of medications, ensuring the correct items are delivered and that they are properly stored.
  • Perform regular stock counts and reorder medications as needed to prevent shortages.
  • Provide customer service by answering questions about medications, over-the-counter products, and general health inquiries.
  • Accurately enter patient prescriptions and medication orders into the pharmacy system.
  • Review prescriptions for completeness, ensuring that required information such as dosage, frequency, and patient details are included.
  • Verify patient insurance and assist with billing, claims processing, and medication reimbursement procedures.
  • Provide basic medication counseling to patients under the guidance of a pharmacist, ensuring they understand how to take their medications correctly.
  • Assist in the preparation of compounded medications such as creams, ointments, and oral solutions, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including those set by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Accurately document medication orders, prescriptions, and patient information.
