Requirements

• BLS certification required
• At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting
• Skills in acute care and patient assistance
• Ability to perform vital sign assessments and EKGs
• Knowledge of infection control and safety protocols

• Additional certifications in patient care or related fields

Responsibilities

• Assist with ambulation and patient mobility
• Support patients with feeding and hygiene needs
• Change linens for occupied and unoccupied beds
• Provide incontinence and elimination care
• Administer mouth and perineal care for patients
• Apply anti-embolic stockings and manage bed alarms
• Utilize bedpans, urinals, and bedside commodes as needed
• Assist with crutches and other mobility aids
• Operate electronic vital sign equipment and glucometers
• Manage hospital and specialty beds, including Hoyer lifts and oxygen tanks
• Monitor and record patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure
• Perform 12 lead EKGs and routine catheter care
• Collect stool and urine specimens
• Transport patients safely and assist with patient transfers
• Measure and record intake and output of fluids
• Don and remove personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow isolation precautions
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area
