About The Position

The Registered Nurse position involves providing specialized care in a NICU setting for neonates, particularly those between 29-34 weeks gestation. The role requires a strong background in various nursing skills, including ventilator management and central line care, and emphasizes the importance of patient and family education. This is a travel nursing assignment lasting 20 weeks, with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a NICU setting.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications.
• Proficient in NICU IV and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP).
• Experience with phototherapy and colostomy/ileostomy care.
• Skilled in the placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes.
• Knowledge of post-abdominal surgery care and thermoregulation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) management.
• Familiarity with tracheostomy management and chest tube management.
• Additional certifications in pediatric or neonatal nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to neonates in the NICU.
• Manage ventilators and other respiratory support systems.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Educate patients and families on care procedures and health management.
• Perform neonatal dosage calculations and ensure accurate medication administration.
• Monitor and manage central lines and other invasive devices.
• Implement isolation precautions and infection control measures.
• Conduct assessments and document patient progress in the Epic charting system.
