This includes examining specimens for bacteria, viruses, or parasites, measuring levels of drugs or other chemicals in the blood to ensure medications are at their most therapeutic levels, and analyzing the chemical content of the blood to determine deficiencies in nutrients or excesses of cholesterol or blood sugars. The role requires a basic grasp of scientific laboratory procedures, including the use of laboratory equipment and generating reports from laboratory tests. The Medical Laboratory Technologist will spend the bulk of their time in the lab, making use of cell counters, cultures, microscopes, and other various types of equipment. They must also follow the lab's protocol for analyzing, interpreting, and delivering test results. This position is a travel role, requiring the candidate to be flexible and ready to work in different healthcare facilities as needed. The job is structured for a duration of 13 weeks, with a standard workweek of 40 hours, typically on night shifts of 8 hours each.
