About The Position

The Trauma Surgery Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant position involves providing care in a Level II Trauma Center, focusing on both low and moderate risk procedures, as well as some high-risk procedures. The role requires a certified professional to work alongside another Trauma NP/PA during day shifts, ensuring quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • NCCPA or ANCC Certification is required.
  • Active California license is required (NPs must have CA NP furnishing number).
  • Completion of California Controlled Substance Education Course (CSEC) for PAs is required.
  • CA DEA, ACLS, and ATLS certifications are required during credentialing.
  • Clean malpractice and background history is highly preferred.
  • Must be actively working at a TJC-accredited hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Perform low/moderate risk procedures such as laceration repair and IV access/IV insertion.
  • Conduct fracture and dislocation reductions with minimal/moderate displacement.
  • Assist in high-risk procedures including G-tube placement, endotracheal intubation, and cardioversion/defibrillation.
  • Manage paracentesis, chest tubes, and central and arterial line placements.
  • Collaborate with the trauma team and support staff to provide comprehensive care.
