About The Position

Barnes Jewish Hospital is seeking an experienced Trauma Registrar III. The department is growing and looking to add to its current team. Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Its staff includes full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows, and other medical professionals. Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The Trauma team members (RN, data analysts, care coordinators, educators) work in a fast-paced environment that tests professional judgment and critical thinking skills, encouraging tremendous growth. This role involves working with world-renowned surgeons and anesthesiologists, assisting on unique and complex procedures, utilizing the latest technologies and treatments, and playing a vital role in developing new procedures and treatment protocols. People from all over the nation and the world come to Barnes-Jewish for its surgical specialties. The position is responsible for data entry into the Emergency General Surgery Registry and/or Trauma Registries, including injury, procedural, and ICD-10 Coding. This role also assists with IRR reporting on other team members and data dictionary review and upkeep. The position requires ATS Registry certification, AAAIM coding certification, and CSTR certification or CAISS certification, and is responsible for maintaining concurrency to meet required standards set forth by accrediting bodies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years experience
  • ATS Registry Course Cert
  • CSTR certification or CAISS certification

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Trade School Equi - Healthcare related field
  • 5-10 years experience
  • No Supervisor Experience
  • AAAIM Coding Course Cert
  • RHIA/RHIT

Responsibilities

  • Includes all responsibilities of lower level Trauma/Emergency General Surgery Registrars.
  • Application of trauma flag in patient’s EPIC chart.
  • Assist with Admit process for Trauma/Emergency General Surgery patients.
  • Completion and distribution of scheduled registry reports.
  • Serve on planning committee for Trends in Trauma conference.
