We’re seeking an experienced Trauma Program Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for our Level II Trauma Program. GENERAL DUTIES Provides oversight and is involved in strategic planning, participates with internal and external disaster management planning, and coordinates the complex network of disciplines to ensure high-quality care across the continuum. The Trauma Services Director maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Trauma Medical Director to ensure alignment of clinical, quality, and programmatic goals The Trauma Services Director monitors performance activities in collaboration with the PI Coordinator and TMD, ensuring the trauma service supports the PIPS plan and develops event resolution activities to address events with opportunities. Supervises daily operations of trauma program. In conjunction with the TMD, develops and implements clinical protocols and practice management guidelines. Aligns with TMD to set goals for the benefit of the trauma program and its patients. Directs ongoing patient tracking, abstracting, and data entry of trauma service patients into the trauma registry data bank. Supervises transfer of patient data to the state and TQIP for benchmarking. Responsible for trauma registry data and QA activities that comply with state and national guidelines to include the state trauma rules and regulations, the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Optimal Guidelines, and Joint Commission criteria. Assists with development and monitoring of the budget. Maintains required trauma-related continuing education and active membership in a regional or national trauma organization in accordance with ACS requirements Supervises preparation of ongoing statistical and financial reports Facilitates the development of the measurement and reporting of quality outcomes. Oversees the monitoring of the effectiveness of existing processes toward improving quality outcomes. Anticipates future requirements for maintaining expertise in area. Responsible for the trauma program assessment and business strategy development. Stays current with industry trends and innovations. Responsible for the development, coordination, and management of educational and outreach offerings. Represents organization at state and local trauma meetings. Works collaboratively with the Trauma Medical Director to fulfill the mission of the Trauma Service. Assists with development and monitoring of the trauma research budget and supports their operational needs. Provides reports on all activities to Administration. 100% of the TPD’s FTE is dedicated to trauma program leadership which is categorized into 3 major areas: Program Administration, Quality Leadership and Education/Outreach Leadership. Program Leadership (50%) including but not limited to budgetary process, development and implementation of clinical protocols/guidelines, serving as liaison to administration and other departmental leads, and to local, state, and national committees. TPD provides oversight of the trauma registry, is involved in strategic planning, participates with internal and external disaster management planning, active involvement in research projects and activities, and coordinates the complex network of disciplines to ensure high-quality care across the continuum. Quality Leadership (25%) including monitoring performance activities in collaboration with PI Coordinators and TMD, ensuring the trauma service supports the Trauma PIPS Plan, ensuring ongoing monitoring of quality endeavors and projects, ensuring optimal care is provided within the context of ACS-COT and Joint Commission Standards. The TPD also assists in developing event resolution activities to address events with opportunities. Education and Outreach Leadership (25%) including opportunities for professional staff development, serving as liaison with EMS agencies and community groups, providing feedback to nurses, physicians and EMS providers, and collaborating to provide public and professional education events to support the ongoing improvement of the care of the injured patient.

Requirements

  • 7 years of progressive experience and 2 years of related managerial experience
  • Current Registered Nurse License
  • American Heart Association BLS-HCP
