About The Position

Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, Level I Trauma Center, is seeking a Trauma Nurse Registrar to join its Trauma Administration team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in trauma, critical care or emergency nursing. Previous Trauma Registry experience is preferred. The Trauma Nurse Registrar will be working with the ESO Trauma Registry software and must have knowledge of ICD-10 Coding. The Trauma Nurse Registrar/ Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the trauma registry data base, to include data management and validation, report production to meet Trauma Center and regional quality management, trauma research, epidemiologic, and injury prevention activities. In addition you will... Works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Director and Trauma Medical Director, and trauma team in identifying and trending quality issues. In collaboration with Director, uses the PDCA cycle to support process improvement activities throughout the trauma continuum. Responsible for review and preparation of select cases for Morbidity and Mortality conference review, and County Medical Audit Committee. Maintains Quality data base according to department policy. Actively participates in report and documentation preparation for American College of Surgeons and County Site Surveys. Must be able to work independently, demonstrating dedication, high productivity, and self-management in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines. This is a Full Time, Salaried (M-F), 8-Hour Shift position, located at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.

Requirements

  • Current California State RN License
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Trauma Registry Certification within 18 months
  • Registered Nurse with at least three years experience in trauma, critical care, or emergency nursing.
  • Minimum two years experience working with medical records of injured patients.
  • Working knowledge of ICD- 10 coding, AIS, ISS, and AAAM Coding.
  • Evidence of advanced computer skills: data base maintenance, word processing, spread sheets, presentation software, flow charting, and relational data base programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationships; ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in health related field highly preferred.
  • Trauma Registry course completed within twelve months.
  • Previous Trauma Registry experience
