About The Position

JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK's cross streets is named in his honor. Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including emergency care 24/7, orthopedic and joint replacement services using emerging technology, cardiovascular services, maternity care and pediatric services, an ambulatory surgery center, imaging services, and an outpatient rehabilitation center. The Injury Prevention/Outreach Coordinator is responsible for injury prevention activities and programs for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors across the continuum of care. This position collaborates with the professional community and develops relationships with other agencies and organizations with the goal of enhancing trauma-related care and relations of those in the community/region. This position is also responsible for assisting with the delivery of trauma-related education and training to healthcare providers (i.e., nurses, EMS providers, other healthcare providers) and intended target audiences. The Injury Prevention/Outreach Coordinator demonstrates clinical nursing competency and acts as a clinical resource, functioning as a role model for patient care and assists in staff development and community development. The position works collaboratively with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to ensure the Trauma Center's verification and designation requirements are met for outreach, education, and injury prevention. Trauma center public relations are inherent in this role.
