UW’s Division of Research has an exciting opportunity for a Research Manager in the Department of Surgery at Harborview Medical Center. This position oversees a portfolio of clinical and health services research ranging from investigator-initiated studies to industry-sponsored clinical trials. The Research Manager will supervise a team of Research Study Assistants and Research Coordinators and serve as a strategic partner to Principal Investigators (PIs) in program development, grant preparation, implementation and compliance. This position will work with surgical faculty, administrators, and research staff to facilitate new and existing research projects, grants, and publications. The individual in this role reports to the Assistant Director of the Division of Research. The position also requires the Research Manager to liaison with Harborview Medical Center administration with regards to research certifications and critical care research advisories. Clinical research is central to the University of Washington's mission, translating scientific discovery into direct patient impact. At Harborview Medical Center, that commitment is visible in outcomes that speak for themselves: the Regional Burn Center has treated nearly 20,000 patients across Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana since 1974, with a survival rate exceeding 97 percent. Harborview is also home to Washington's only Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center, providing the highest standard of comprehensive care for major injuries, from complex fractures and serious wounds to reconstructive surgery of the head, face, hands, and limbs. Research has been integral to these results. The work conducted across the Trauma, Critical Care, Burn, and Plastic Surgery divisions has saved lives, restored function, and shaped clinical practice at a regional, national, and international level.
