Position Overview: Full time, Day shift - The Trauma and Emergency General Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) delivers direct patient care consistent with the APP's education, experience, and certification, in collaboration with the attending Trauma and Emergency General Surgery physicians. This includes the diagnosis, management, and referral of health care issues specific to Trauma and Emergency General Surgery (EGS). The APP will complete pre and post-surgical management and recognize options for non-surgical management of trauma, EGS, and critically ill patients. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with Trauma/EGS attending physicians, general surgery residents, and APPs to complete daily rounds on the trauma and surgical floors and in the intensive care unit (ICU). Respond to Emergency Department (ED) consults for EGS, collecting data and interpreting laboratory and imaging results to develop and document assessments and care plans. Perform bedside procedures for both surgical and non-surgical patients Work with the team to complete timely documentation and carry out care plans effectively. Partner with Trauma/EGS APPs, Trauma/EGS attendings, surgical residents, nursing, physical, occupational and speech therapies, social work and case management to develop disposition plans with a multidisciplinary team approach. Respond to trauma cases in the resuscitation bay, perform trauma survey assessments, and stabilize high-acuity patients in accordance with Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) guidelines. Promote consumer, family, and community health through preventative health care actions and patient advocacy. Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care, including periodically serving as a surgical first assistant during Trauma and EGS cases. Rotate to partnering Level 3 trauma centers (e.g., MetroHealth Medical Center Parma and Fisher Titus in Norwalk) to provide consistent and high-quality care to our surrounding communities.
