Demonstrates competency in the physical care of the patient according to MCCG & specific unit patient care standards. Upon receiving notification of transport request, registers acceptance of transport in system. Upon completion of transport, registers completion of transport in the system along with other appropriate information. Utilizing proper safety precautions, moves patients to and from beds, stretchers, procedure tables, and wheelchairs for transportation to and from various locations within the hospital or to the discharge area. Assists with positioning of patients for procedures. Follow proper procedures in transporting bodies to the morgue. Escort funeral directors to and from the morgue ensuring proper procedures are followed. Transports other items as necessary between various locations within the hospital. Cleans equipment in accordance with departmental procedures and reports/delivers broken equipment for repair. Responds to requests for patient lifting assistance and logs information appropriately. Demonstrates competency in the use of lift equipment. Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills when conversing with patients, family members, physicians, and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Relates relevant information with the appropriate member of the healthcare team. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
