About The Position

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college Radiology Program.
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider's certification required.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred; experience with patient transportation is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift, transfer, and transport patients as required.

Responsibilities

  • Transport patients to and from the radiology department in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
  • Assist patients with entering and exiting transportation equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, beds) following proper lifting and transfer techniques.
  • Safely and efficiently transfer patients from transport equipment to imaging tables when needed.
  • Greet and communicate with patients in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
  • Inform patients of any necessary procedures or delays, helping to reduce patient anxiety.
  • Work closely with radiology technologists, nurses, and other medical staff to facilitate smooth workflow and timely patient transitions.
  • Communicate patient readiness and transport status to the appropriate staff members to ensure seamless operations.
  • Maintain transport equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions or needed repairs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Clean and disinfect transportation equipment regularly in compliance with hospital infection control standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the radiology department's transportation areas, including stocking supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Follow proper procedures for patient identification, ensuring accurate patient records before and after transport.
  • Comply with confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines to protect patient information.
