The position is located at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Madison, where the primary responsibility is to ensure the safe transport of patients upon admission, discharge, and between in-house patient rooms and diagnostic areas. The role involves guiding co-workers in transport duties and handling departmental matters that can be addressed by a lead position.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.
  • Three years' experience in a relevant field.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Develops patient satisfaction by consistently providing for the safe movement of patients to and from diagnostic areas, nursing units, and medical office buildings.
  • Promotes safety by accurately identifying each patient through the use of two patient ID methods.
  • Ensures clinical/service outcomes by assisting with the audit of hand hygiene practices and intervening with units and transporters to determine patient/customer needs.
  • Enhances employee satisfaction by treating colleagues as co-workers and being sensitive to respect for others.
  • Acts as a role model by perpetuating an attitude of reconciliation and cooperation within the team.
  • Contributes to physician satisfaction by timely delivery of patients to the appointed unit, clinic, or test site.
  • Contributes to the completion of all tasks during the scheduled shift time and practices stewardship of productive time.
  • Promotes team building among the internal transportation department, nursing units, and ancillary units to positively affect timely service delivery.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • May clean and disinfect hospital equipment, including intravenous pumps, drips, and monitors, using established cleaning guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
